PhD Student at EPFL and Idiap Research Institute (Switzerland)

Martin Schonger is a PhD student at EPFL and Idiap Research Institute in Switzerland, where he is a member of the Robot Learning and Interaction group led by Dr. Sylvain Calinon. Martin holds a B.Sc. (2019) and M.Sc. (2024) in Computer Science from the Technical University of Munich (TUM). His master’s thesis, supervised by Prof. Sami Haddadin at the Munich Institute of Robotics and Machine Intelligence, was titled “Learning Barrier-Certified Stable Dynamical Systems for Robotic Obstacle Avoidance: A Polynomial and Compositional Approach.” His current research focuses on using geometric algebra and differential geometry to advance robotic control and motion planning, particularly in human-robot collaboration scenarios.
