RFIC design for full-duplex cm-wave 6G repeaters

PI: Henrik Sjöland, Lund University
co-PI: Alireza Saberkari, Linköping University

The project addresses design of radio frequency integrated circuits (RFICs) for 6G repeaters in frequency range 3 (FR3), frequencies between 7 GHz and 20 GHz also known as centimeter waves. The repeaters will be used to augment massive MIMO, forming a new concept for future wireless systems. Repeaters must then be able to receive and transmit simultaneously (full duplex), with high repeater gain, and provide equal phase shift and delay in both uplink and downlink directions (reciprocity). This provides ample research challenges in the RFIC design, calling for combination of analog techniques and digital calibration and tuning to obtain sufficient performance with low power consumption. Synergy effects will be explored between the participating partners and with other ELLIIT projects.
