Professor

Lund University (Sweden)

Daniel Sjöberg received the M.Sc. degree in Engineering Physics in 1996, the Licentiate degree in Engineering in 1999, and the Ph.D. degree in Engineering in 2001, all from Lund University, Lund, Sweden. He was appointed Docent in Electromagnetic Theory in 2005 and has been a Professor with the Department of Electrical and Information Technology, Lund University, since 2011. He currently also serves as Director of Third Cycle Studies at the Faculty of Engineering and is affiliated with the strategic research initiatives ELLIIT and Advanced Chip Technology (ACT).

Prof. Sjöberg’s research interests include electromagnetic theory, antennas and wave propagation, metamaterials, periodic structures, millimeter-wave and sub-THz systems, numerical methods in electromagnetics, and electromagnetic compatibility and exposure. His work spans both fundamental electromagnetic theory and applied research for next-generation wireless communication and sensing systems. He has contributed extensively to the understanding of physical bounds, homogenization methods, metasurfaces, and millimeter-wave antenna systems, with applications ranging from 5G/6G communications to nondestructive testing and imaging.

Prof. Sjöberg has authored and coauthored more than 130 scientific publications in international journals and conferences. He has supervised numerousdoctoral students and has held several academic leadership positions at Lund University, including Head of Department and Director of Studies. He currently serves as Chair of the Swedish National Committee on Radio Science (SNRV).

Prof. Sjöberg received the Young Scientist Award at the URSI General Assembly in 1999. He is an active member of the international electromagnetics and radio science community and has contributed to several interdisciplinary research initiatives in wireless systems and applied electromagnetics.
