Researchers from ELLIIT’s partner universities gathered at Lund University on 21–22 October for the ELLIIT Annual Workshop 2026. Over two days, the programme combined research talks and poster presentations with discussions about industry impact.

The workshop opened with a distinguished keynote presentation by Oussama Khatib from Stanford University, a pioneer on robotics and human–robot collaboration. His talk explored how robotics can extend human capabilities in challenging environments, including through a robotic diver for deep-sea exploration.

Recruited faculty

ELLIIT recruited faculty presented work spanning communications, connectivity, sensing and drones. Discussions were continued at a lively poster session with PhD students and ELLIIT infrastructure representatives showing their work. A panel on ELLIIT and its impact on industry brought together representatives from academia, industry and the ELLIIT alumni community to discuss how research connects with wider society, and what the path from ELLIIT research to impact can look like.

The second day of the workshop featured talks on topics like cyber-physical systems, autonomous robotics, general-purpose AI, data reduction, 5G and 6G security, and augmented and virtual reality. In the afternoon, participants joined mini-workshops on resource-efficient AI, wireless networks, autonomous vehicles, and gender equality and diversity in ELLIIT’s fields of research.

Nextworking opportunities

The annual workshop continues to be a meeting point; by bringing together research presentations, focused discussions and time for networking, it offers ELLIIT’s community a chance to connect around current research in the collaborative environment that ELLIIT provides.
