For the second time, ELLIIT brought together researchers and industry partners for its Breakfast with the Industry Forum, aiming to strengthen relationships between academia and industry. The event was held on February 3, 2026, at the Visionen research arena at Linköping University.
The morning began with a welcome from Erik G. Larsson, director of ELLIIT, and Daniel Axehill, member of the ELLIIT program group, who set the stage for discussions about collaborative opportunities.
Participants were introduced to four key research infrastructures hosted at Linköping University:
- Visionen 2.0, a large arena for research and demonstration of autonomous systems such as drones and ground robots, presented by Daniel Axehill
- Visualization Support and Consulting – Infrastructure, Software, and Competence, a platform offering visualization tools, consulting, and software development, led by Ingrid Hotz.
- AIOps: A Scalable Research Platform for Artificial Intelligence, suitable for large-scale AI and machine learning experimentation, introduced by Mattias Tiger.
- ELLIIT Joint Autonomous Systems Lab at LiU and LU, focused on experimental research in planning, control, and perception for autonomous systems, presented by Erik Frisk.
Following the infrastructure presentations, industry representatives shared insights on ongoing collaborations. Nicklas Johansson from Ericsson and Henrik Pettersson from TRATON offered perspectives from their companies on partnering with academic research.
The breakfast event concluded with time for networking, giving guests a chance to connect and explore future partnerships.
Afterwards, Daniel Axehill reflected on the outcome of the event:
“We are pleased that the event was well received and proved both rewarding and engaging, bringing together participants from diverse backgrounds across academia and industry. Several participants expressed appreciation for the combination of updates from the infrastructures, shared experiences and advice on collaborations between academia and industry, as well as the opportunity for networking.”
